Critics Praise New Server Devoted Forever As “Devoted,” “Forever”

Devoted Forever—Reviews are in for Devoted Forever, the new server in the Devoted franchise that launched on 24 October, and critics are united in describing it as both devoted and, so far, forever.

“It is devoted,” wrote one reviewer, after spending four days on the server. “And it has been going for four days, which is a promising start on the ‘forever’ part. I give it five stars, pending forever.”

The new iteration, licensed from the original Devoted creators, promises to experiment with several changes to the classic Civ formula. Early players say the experiments are working, though nobody can agree which changes they are. “Everything feels a little bit different,” said one. “Or maybe I’m just different now.”

Many Devoted Forever players also play on CivMC, leading to what experts are calling the “two-server problem.” “I have a nation on one server and a nation on another,” said one player. “Both of them think I’m at the other one. Neither knows about the queue.”

Nipplerock has confirmed that it, too, is devoted forever, though officials clarified that the nation’s devotion is “mainly to TNT” and “not tied to any particular server.”

Industry analysts say the launch is a sign of a healthy genre. “When a Civ server launches with the word ‘forever’ in its name, it shows confidence,” said one analyst. “It also gives future historians an easy headline.”

At press time, the server had been running for six days, a figure critics described as “very close to forever, honestly.”
