Elysian Pact, Now Consisting Only Of Volterra, Holds Tense Emergency Summit With Itself

Volterra—Officials from every member state of the Elysian Pact met Sunday for an emergency summit that sources described as “tense but intimate,” given that every member state is Volterra.

The four-hour session, held in Volterra’s grand hall, featured a full agenda, a seating chart, simultaneous translation from Volterran into Volterran, and a coffee break during which delegates were seen talking quietly among themselves, and to themselves.

“There were disagreements, of course,” said a Volterran diplomat, who represented the host nation, the guest delegation and the independent observers. “At one point I raised a point of order, and I had to rule on it. I was very fair to me.”

Founded in July 2022 as a defensive and military coordination agreement, the Elysian Pact played a major part in the early politics of the server, including the Generic War. Over time its membership has narrowed to a single nation, which officials insist has made the alliance “more efficient than ever.”

“In the old days you had to wait for everyone to log on before you could declare anything,” said a senior Pact official. “Now I can call an emergency summit at three in the morning and get a quorum immediately. Frankly, every alliance should try it.”

The summit closed with a unanimous vote, a joint communiqué condemning “absent members” and a group photograph that organisers said “really captured everyone.” The photo, which shows one player standing in front of a banner, has already been framed and hung in the hall next to the previous summit’s photo, which is identical.

Some analysts questioned whether an alliance with a single member could still be called an alliance. A Pact spokesperson responded that the question was “divisive” and that the Elysian Pact “does not tolerate division of any kind, especially by one.”

The next summit is scheduled for whenever Volterra feels like it.
