Meridiem Entente Admits Skandic’s Toontasker Shrine “Probably Should Have Been A Red Flag”

Salerno—The Meridiem Entente on Friday expelled the Republic of Skandic, its first expulsion of a full member, after discovering that Skandic fighters had joined Chiraq in an attack on a member of its anti-raider pact. Alliance officials admitted that the signs had been there for some time, most of all the shrine to Toontasker in the middle of Skandic’s capital.
“In hindsight, we should have asked about it,” said an Entente diplomat. “We held a summit in that city in the spring. The shrine was on the way to the meeting room. There were candles. There was a portrait. A Skandic official stopped to bow on the way past, and we all assumed he’d dropped something.”
The shrine was first brought to this newspaper’s attention by WeaponArchitect, founder of the architecture firm Icon Group. He said only that it was “bigger than the town hall.”
Entente investigators who visited on Saturday found a portrait of Toontasker surrounded by candles, a donation chest and a guestbook signed by every member of Skandic’s government. The guestbook’s most recent entry was dated the morning of the Chiraqi attack and read, in full, “for you king.”
Toontasker is not a popular figure in the Entente. According to CivWiki, he helped hand the Kallos vault to the ASN, had his own nation’s vault disabled by the Entente in Operation Mirage, attacked Apollos in early 2026 and was later pearled by CeceliaRabbit and banned. Investigators say each of these events is commemorated in the shrine with its own stained-glass window.
“There’s a window for Operation Mirage,” said a Salerno official. “That was our operation. They put us in the window. We’re the bad guys in the window.”
Investigators also found that the shrine is reinforced with diamond. Skandic’s main bunker is reinforced with stone.
In his statement to Entente members, spokesperson Gidein wrote that the decision “was not taken lightly.” Alliance sources confirm the vote took just under four minutes, including the time it took to find the kick button.
Skandic has given several explanations for the shrine since Friday. It first described it as “cultural.” It then said it was dedicated to “a different Toontasker.” By Sunday afternoon, officials were calling it a weather station, and they declined to explain why a weather station would have a gift shop.
The Imperial Federation, which sold Skandic the territory of Anisso in February 2025, has asked whether the sale can be reversed “on religious grounds.”
Chiraq, which began life in August as a state of Skandic, has offered to take the shrine into protective custody. Skandic said it was considering the offer. The Entente said it was considering a second expulsion, retroactively, for anyone who accepts it.
Gidein’s statement ended by acknowledging that “this is a tumultuous time.” Members said this was the most emotional sentence the Entente has ever published, and that several delegates had to log off afterwards.
Toontasker, who remains banned, could not be reached for comment. A Skandic priest said he speaks to them “in other ways.”
At press time, the Entente had added a new question to its membership form, “Do you have any shrines, and if so, to whom?”, and three member states had asked for more time to answer it.
