Icenia Insists Unfuelled Pearl Was Deliberate Release Of Chiraqi Leader To Fight For Icenia

Icenia City—Icenian officials said on Tuesday that the release of Chiraqi High Councillor Fur, whose pearl ran out of fuel in Icenia’s vault last week, was not an oversight. They described it as a planned step in Operation Generic Freedom, under which he has been freed to fight for Icenia.
“This was always the plan,” said an Icenian official, standing beside an empty fuel chest. “Operation Generic Freedom has three phases: unban, unpearl and liberate. We have now completed phase two. It just happened to be the pearl we forgot about.”
Operation Generic Freedom, announced last month, aims to defeat Chiraq by reviving Rhode Island and releasing every pearl on the server. Officials said Fur, a founding member of Rhode Island, made him “exactly the kind of veteran the operation was designed to bring back.” They acknowledged one complication: he is also Chiraq’s spokesman.
“Every plan has a weak point,” said the official. “Ours is that the first man we released is the leader of the country we are fighting.”
The pearl was taken by Shadno over Westhelm on 31 October. Icenia had announced it would hold him under a 2016 Veritas sentencing table Fur co-signed himself, which declares all sentences final “with no appeals and no second chances.” Legal scholars confirmed that no appeal was filed. “The sentence was not appealed,” said one. “It was simply allowed to run out of fuel, which the Icenian government now says was a strategic choice.”
Vault staff said the pearl had sat on a shelf next to a sign reading “FUEL ME.” Asked whether the sign was also part of Operation Generic Freedom, officials said they could not comment on ongoing operations.
Icenian commanders have since sent Fur his deployment orders, assigning him to the front near Westhelm. As of Tuesday, he had not reported for duty. He had, however, reported to Chiraq.
“We consider this a successful infiltration,” said an Icenian military planner. “He is now inside the Chiraqi leadership. He was already inside the Chiraqi leadership. But now he is there on our behalf, as far as our paperwork is concerned.”
The MacArthur comparison on his CivWiki page has drawn fresh attention. The real Douglas MacArthur left the Philippines in 1942, promised “I shall return,” and did. “We assumed the wiki was exaggerating,” said a wiki editor. “It was just a couple of days behind.” The “KIA by Shadno” entry in his table of victories has since been changed to “Released (Operation Generic Freedom).”
In Chiraq, officials welcomed their spokesman home and confirmed that someone can post to the announcements channel again. They added that they were “very grateful to Icenia for its contribution to the Chiraqi war effort.”
Icenia has ordered a review of its vault procedures, which officials stressed is not related to the release. The review is expected to recommend a fuel rota, a reminder in the Discord and, according to one draft, “literally anyone checking.”
At press time, Shadno had been seen waiting on the same skybridge over Westhelm, and Icenia had listed his next pearl as “Operation Generic Freedom, Phase Two (Again).”
